Arm / Disarm (PAPER trading)

Definition
The master switch that enables or disables the paper-trading engine. ARMED means the engine can place simulated (paper) orders; disarmed means it cannot.
How to read it
Arm / Disarm is the safety switch for the paper-trading engine. When ARMED, the engine is live to act on its rules and place simulated paper orders; when disarmed, it is fully passive and will not trade. This is paper-only — no real capital is ever at risk — but the arm state still matters because it controls whether the automated engine is actually running your strategies versus sitting idle. Think of it as the ignition: research tools work either way, but nothing gets placed until you arm.
How practitioners use it
Used as context among multiple indicators — never as a standalone signal to act.
Less common professional uses
Power user: treat arming as a deliberate ritual — verify the strategy, symbol, and sizing are what you intend before flipping to ARMED. Caveat: ARMED here means paper orders only; it never touches live capital, but a mis-configured armed engine can still pollute your paper track record. If the engine seems inactive despite being armed, check data freshness — a stale feed can leave an armed engine with nothing to act on.
